How do I clean Oxygen 14?

Oxygen 14 may store excess, temporary data on your computer that can take up valuable space. It may also store private data such as passwords or browsing history in the registry or on the file system. If you want to clean Oxygen 14 manually, you can follow the steps outlined below. There are eight locations in the file system where Oxygen 14 stores data that can be cleaned.

Files

To clean your file system from files stored by Oxygen 14 and to gain free disk space, examine the following file system locations. First of all, open a command prompt window:

  3. Type dir %ProgramFiles%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\.install4j\*.log
    • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\.install4j\*.log
  4. Type dir %ProgramFiles%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\dicts\*.txt
    • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\dicts\*.txt
  5. Type dir %ProgramFiles%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\dicts\*.html
    • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\dicts\*.html
  6. Type dir /s %ProgramFiles%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\lib\*.txt
    • On 64-Bit also: Type dir /s %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\lib\*.txt
  7. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\VirtualStore\Program Files*
  8. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\Oxygen XML Editor 14\*.properties where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
  9. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\VirtualStore\Program Files*
  10. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\Oxygen XML Editor 14\*.log where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
  11. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\VirtualStore\Program Files*
  12. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\Oxygen XML Editor 14\.install4j\*.log where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
  13. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\VirtualStore\Program Files*
  14. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\Oxygen XML Editor 14\dicts\*.txt where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
  15. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\VirtualStore\Program Files*
  16. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\Oxygen XML Editor 14\dicts\*.html where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
  17. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\VirtualStore\Program Files*
  18. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir /s {folder}\Oxygen XML Editor 14\lib\*.txt where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.

Among the files listed in the previous steps, there can be one file which is essential to Oxygen 14 and must not be deleted. To identify it:

  1. Type dir %ProgramFiles%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\.install4j\files.log
    • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Oxygen XML Editor 14\.install4j\files.log

Once you have identified the files stored by Oxygen 14 that you want to clean, delete them using the del command or Windows Explorer.
