How do I clean AMD/ATI?

AMD/ATI may store excess, temporary data on your computer that can take up valuable space. It may also store private data such as passwords or browsing history in the registry or on the file system. The easiest way to erase this data is by downloading AppCleaner, it is 100% free and about 1MB in size. A portable version is also available.

If you want to clean AMD/ATI manually, you can follow the steps outlined below. There are twenty-one locations in the file system where AMD/ATI stores data that can be cleaned.

Files

To clean your file system from files stored by AMD/ATI and to gain free disk space, examine the following file system locations. First of all, open a command prompt window:

• Hit the Windows key , usually located in the lower left of your keyboard between the Ctrl and Alt keys.
• Windows XP/Vista/7: Click Run...
• Type cmd
• Hit Enter

Now list all the files stored by AMD/ATI that can be cleaned:

1. Type dir %ALLUSERSPROFILE%/AMD/Fuel/*.txt
   • Windows XP: Type dir %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data/AMD/Fuel/*.txt
2. Type dir %ALLUSERSPROFILE%/AMD/KDB/*.log
   • Windows XP: Type dir %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data/AMD/KDB/*.log
3. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/AMD/Fuel/ClientProxyLog*
   • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/AMD/Fuel/ClientProxyLog*
4. Type dir /s %LOCALAPPDATA%/AMD/GLCache/*
   • Windows XP: Type dir /s %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/AMD/GLCache/*
5. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/ATI/ACE/*.txt
   • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/ATI/ACE/*.txt
6. Type dir %ProgramFiles%/AMD/OverDrive/*.log
   • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%/AMD/OverDrive/*.log
7. Type dir %ProgramFiles%/AMD/amdkmpfd
   • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%/AMD/amdkmpfd
8. Type dir %ProgramFiles%/ATI/CIM/Reports/*
   • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%/ATI/CIM/Reports/*
9. Type dir /s %ProgramFiles%/ATI Technologies/*.log
   • On 64-Bit also: Type dir /s %ProgramFiles(x86)%/ATI Technologies/*.log
10. Type dir %ProgramFiles%/ATI Technologies/cccutil64.txt
    • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%/ATI Technologies/cccutil64.txt
11. Type dir %SystemDrive%/ATI
12. Type dir %SystemDrive%/AMD
13. Type dir %WinDir%/System32/CCCInstall*.log
14. Type dir %WinDir%/SysWOW64/CCCInstall*.log
15. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
16. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\AMD/OverDrive/*.log where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
17. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
18. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\AMD/amdkmpfd where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
19. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
20. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\ATI/CIM/Reports/* where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
21. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
22. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir /s {folder}\ATI Technologies/*.log where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
23. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
24. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\ATI Technologies/cccutil64.txt where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
25. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/ProgramData/AMD/Fuel/*.txt
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/ProgramData/AMD/Fuel/*.txt
26. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/ProgramData/AMD/KDB/*.log
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/ProgramData/AMD/KDB/*.log

Once you have identified the files stored by AMD/ATI that you want to clean, delete them using the del command or Windows Explorer.
