How do I clean Active@ File Recovery?

If you want to clean Active@ File Recovery manually, you can follow the steps outlined below. There are two locations in the file system where Active@ File Recovery stores data that can be cleaned.

Files

To clean your file system from files stored by Active@ File Recovery and to gain free disk space, examine the following file system locations. First of all, open a command prompt window:

• Hit the Windows key , usually located in the lower left of your keyboard between the Ctrl and Alt keys.
• Windows XP/Vista/7: Click Run...
• Type cmd
• Hit Enter

Now list all the files stored by Active@ File Recovery that can be cleaned:

1. Type dir %ProgramFiles%/LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery*
   • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%/LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery*
2. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
   Type dir {folder}\Active File Recovery Log.txt where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
3. Type dir %ProgramFiles%/LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery*
   • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%/LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery*
4. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
   Type dir {folder}\he_log.txt where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
5. Type dir %ProgramFiles%/LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery*
   • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%/LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery*
6. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
   Type dir {folder}\*.scn where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
7. Type dir %ProgramFiles%/LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery*
   • On 64-Bit also: Type dir %ProgramFiles(x86)%/LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery*
8. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
   Type dir {folder}\*.xml where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
9. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
   • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
10. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery* where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
11. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\Active File Recovery Log.txt where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
12. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
13. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery* where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
14. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\he_log.txt where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
15. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
16. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery* where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
17. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\*.scn where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
18. Type dir %LOCALAPPDATA%/VirtualStore/Program Files*
    • Windows XP: Type dir %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data/VirtualStore/Program Files*
19. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\LSoft Technologies/Active@ File Recovery* where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.
20. For all the folders that were listed in the previous step:
    Type dir {folder}\*.xml where {folder} is one of the folders listed in the previous step.

Once you have identified the files stored by Active@ File Recovery that you want to clean, delete them using the del command or Windows Explorer.
